Join the Ada's List team - Comms + Service Designer

ADA’S LIST IS A GROUP FOR WOMEN* WHO ARE COMMITTED TO CHANGING THE TECH INDUSTRY.

We're a group of 7000+ badass people who broadly speaking, work in science, technology, engineering or mathematics. A.K.A:  work in or around the internet.

After six (!) years of growing one of the UK’s largest and most active communities of women in digital, we are ready for the next stage of growth. We are looking for a hybrid designer who can sit across service and comms design. It’s an exciting, hands on role to help grow and support the Ada’s List community in member-centric manner and take us to the next level. This is a delivery role - we will be moving fast and will want a designer who can partner with us to prototype and launch new services, digital content, and designs fast - and can push our thinking in how we want to position ourselves in the market from a branding perspective. We want someone who is an excellent communicator and thinks of new, cool ways to position our content. 

Over the next few months, this individual will work across:

Service design

• You will have a huge and exciting scope to work with - over the next few months, we will be launching several new initiatives and it’s crucial to get the end-to-end experience right
• Create prototypes of the new services, either paper or digital 
• Work with different types of content and user-led interactions across digital and non-digital channels
  

Communications design

• Website - you’ll need to be comfortable designing and updating our website (which sits on webflow)
• There will be a number of outputs that will need to be produced - from infographics, to newsletter templates, to training toolkits, to slidedeck templates, and more
  

Basics of Front-End Development

• Tied to the above needs, but we will need to integrate with a payment platform
  

Bonus skills:

• Effective and efficient writing (we currently are a hybrid of American and Queen’s English, so fluency in either would be great)

All Ada’s List staff members are also part-time community managers. We want someone who is passionate about building community and has no problem jumping in and getting the vibe of our community to spot what’s missing and provide it. You will help manage social media channels, monitor and moderate email community, and respond to supporter/member questions.

Details

The role is a 6 month paid role, with the potential of contract extension. We are London-based.  Also open to flexible working options + freelancers, please just mention in your cover letter what you’d like to do. We work remotely and meetup in Hackney for meetings.

Salary - 30,000-40,000 per annum

Our team is small, but awesome - you’ll be working directly with Ada’s List co-founder and MD, Merici Vinton, as well as our other fantastic volunteers on a project by project basis. Karoline K currently oversees our design. Karen runs our newsletter and is working away on some other awesome content ideas.
