November 2013

And so it ended…

A belated post to chronicle our Internet Week Europe event last week – it went off as brilliantly as we could have hoped.

300 Seconds have put together a neat Storify of the evening.

Alex Jackson’s camera worked its magic and there are a bunch of photos that captured the event for posterity here.

Another big Thank You to our sponsors Accenture, DXW, Made by Many, Sleepio, and Swiftkey for helping us make the evening happen.

Our speakers were absolutely fabulous: Ingrid Koehler, Amanda Coban, Rosie Gollancz, Anke Holst, Harriet McDougall and Anna-Lisa Wesley.

Ana Bradley and the team behind Shoreditch Works and the Village Hall have a lovely venue which we are grateful for.

Our judges for the evening were Mary McKenna, Nadya Powell and Tim Malbon, whose experience added to the evening.

And Caroline Waxler, Festival Director for Internet Week Europe was able to open our event though she had a packed schedule during her few days over from New York.

Here’s to our first event, and hoping for many more such inspirational evenings.

Announcing speakers & sponsors for our November 12th Women in Tech meetup

We’ve been beavering away with our co-conspirators at 300 Seconds to put together an inspiring and fun evening on November 12th. We’re also delighted to have Caroline Waxler, Festival Director for Internet Week Europe, open the event for us, all the way from New York!

Our speaker line-up for the evening is as follows:

  • Ingrid Koehler: Social media and rugby
  • Amanda Coban: Managing an alternative online community
  • Rosie Gollancz: Trusting technology with your health
  • Anke Holst: Spinning Yarns, or ‘How I went a bit bonkers about making things’
  • Harriet McDougall: User-centred design
  • Anna-Lisa Wesley: A circle of digital creatives

Last but not least, we want to convey our heartfelt thanks to these companies, all supporters of women in technology, for sponsoring the evening – without them we wouldn’t be able to pull this off: Accenture, DXW, Made by Many, Sleepio, and Swiftkey.

There’s still time to get tickets on Eventbrite (and they’re free!). We hope to see you there.
