Tech companies admit their lack of diversity is a problem. But admitting it is a great start to help change the ratio.

In the meantime, efforts that force progress will make some uncomfortable or seem insincere because they don’t move the needle enough.

The problem of “women in tech” is that there aren’t enough of them. Recruiters can do the current population a greater service by being good at their jobs rather than offering them cucumber sandwiches sans crusts served with a warm cup of patronisation.
If I’m looking for highly skilled people who are passionate about technology I know that I’m going to find some females in that group and I’m going to do my best to make sure that when I do talk to them it’s with a relevant and interesting opportunity…but then that’s what I want for every candidate.
