We are delighted to be partnering with Qualtrics

Ada's List are partnering with Qualtrics

We’re delighted to be partnering with Qualtrics who were also sponsors of our Annual Ada’s List Conference in October. We’ve been lucky enough to be able to chat with Nadine Oppermann, who’s on the EMEA Talent Acquisition Team at Qualtrics, who tells us more about life at Qualtrics and her experience as part of their Women’s Leadership Development (WLD) group.

“At Qualtrics, our mission is to close the experience gap. Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) is a cornerstone of our company culture.

With strong views on diversity and inclusion, immigration, wage equality, and the universality of human rights—without regard to race, colour, creed, gender, or sexual orientation— we will not be quiet but will amplify these views on behalf of our employees and organisation.

We are taking action to improve DEI through our people, processes, and technology”

Chatting with Nadine Oppermann

My name is Nadine Oppermann, and I am part of the EMEA Talent Acquisition Team here at Qualtrics. I am also a committee member of our Women’s Leadership Development (WLD) group. A key focus for me is to work both internally and externally to support and celebrate women in the industry. I do this through listening to the needs of our female employees and running workshops and talks to help them navigate any challenges they might be facing. Such workshops are generally run by women within the business which also provides more visibility to more junior employees of senior female role models and creates a great network for all involved.

"To reach the external network I love partnering with external organisations, such as Ada’s List, who align with our DEI values to promote and educate the wider community."

The impact I’m most proud of in my job is when I'm able to attract diverse talent to equally amazing opportunities and I am so lucky to be working for an organization that holds Diversity Equity & Inclusion at the forefront of its company culture.

One of the reasons I am so proud to be part of Qualtrics is I get to work in a company that is changing the way companies look at employee experience. Qualtrics enables and empowers employees to be engaged and feel included. Here at Qualtrics we practice what we preach! We use the Qualtrics platform internally to gauge sentiment from employees on a range of key topics. For Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion we look to understand our team’s perspective on:

Each Manager in Qualtrics with 5 or more reports is given their individual Manager effectiveness score, their specific orgs score and the company's score. This information is also available to leaders in each org so that they can include any necessary improvements or changes to the orgs wider roadmap and goals.

This enables us as a company, as well as our customers, to have tangible goals and metrics to create a better DEI environment for employees. Below is a sample of how we would present data of Psychological safety using our product:

Setting Global Goals

Globally we have set a goal that by the end of 2021, 40% of our workforce will be made up of women and/or people from underrepresented minorities (URMs). Our goals for representation of women are across our global workforce. Our goals for representation of URMs are currently for our US workforce.

We measure the representation of women across the globe as well as women in leadership.

We measure the representation of URMs in the US as well as URMs in leadership. Representation of URMs is calculated as URMs as a percentage of our total US workforce population. Leadership is defined as any person at the leadership level L5+

Technology driving change

What I find so impressive is that we also use our technology to drive this agenda and have developed a DEI Solution as part of our EmployeeXM offering. Using our own solution designed by our I-O psychologists, we measure the belonging experience between majority and underrepresented groups at Qualtrics. Our solution analyzes operational data (like demographics) and experience data (such as feelings and sentiment) to provide us with a view on the sense of belonging across different intersectional groups.

We also provide our business leaders with insights to the key drivers on how to improve the belonging experience in their teams. This is part of our goal of ensuring that DEI is an accountability shared by all and is embedded into our Employee Experience.

Hiring Inclusively

Hiring is another area where we have a big focus on DEI. As part of our company Big Bet to improve Diversity, Equity & Inclusion globally; we have created and rolled out DEI training for all hiring managers to educate and create a #OneTeam approach when it comes to retaining and attracting more diverse talent to Qualtrics.

We have also committed to having a diverse interview panel for every opportunity and ensuring that we have a diverse pipeline of candidates at each stage of our interview process.

I am delighted to be part of the DEI journey here at Qualtrics and I am very excited to see what’s to come!
