I am a freelance journalist and Information scientist; I am a Voluntary sector/civic activist, having recently been on the organising group of the first Diversity in Digital Festival in Birmingham in 2019; I have worked in Disability politics, information and project management and in the Public sector – community development and project management; I am a freelance/company director of social enterprise RnR Organisation, working in digital and data literacy development in VCSE sectors including publishing a monthly tech for good e-bulletin Digital WM News, an open and sharing campaigner, women in technology hack organiser, unconference organiser, skills development and enabler; I'm an award-winning (Finalist, West Midlands Women in Tech Awards 2019 Tech for good category, Nominee, 2019 TechWomen100, Winner, West Midlands Women of the Year 2016 award Outstanding contribution to technology & listed #InspiringFifty) tech connector, do-er and fosterer of skills and knowledge in the West Midlands and beyond; I co-founded and run both the Net Squared Midlands: tech for social good meetup series and the UK unconference for voluntary sector infrastructure organisations VCSSCamp; I chair both the West Midlands Open Data Forum and regional charitable funders group WM Funders Network, constantly seeking opportunities for data-informed decision-making; I am on the Steering group of the Open Data Institute Birmingham node and the organising team for the national Open Data Camp unconference; my company was one of 9 partners in first national Data for Good conference held last year in Birmingham and organises an annual event for global Open Data Day for West Midlands Open Data Forum; I am a member of the global community for Women in Tech, Adas List; I received an honorary doctorate in Business Administration from Arden University in June 2018
